Project for HAMACA. Moving image platform represents its vast video catalogue and organisation’s mission. HAMACA is a video art archive dedicated to preserving video heritage in Spain with over 1200 titles in its collection. The video works as a teaser in many contexts as well as an introduction to HAMACA’s screenings.
Music created for this video connects vintage music making techniques with modern practices, representing the way in which HAMACA operates, between rich heritage and representing contemporary practices of recent years. Sound sources come from old synthesisers, corresponding to rich tradition in Spanish video art of carefully working with fragile mediums, while contemporary production and composition techniques, like granulation and rhythms inspired by techno, give the sound modern shine. Composition uses odd rhythms in each of the melody lines creating tension and momentum, giving sense of urgency.
