Gwushec is a collective project – made by Michał Doroszenko and Maria Plucińska – exploring ecofeminist utopia where cybernetic structures long ago ingested what was considered human. The project questions anthropocentric view on relation between what’s considered natural and/or outer and what’s labeled human. Gwushec assumes that the world has political voice. They explore how creatures and their relationships with humans would look like, what would be the dynamic, they imagine how non anthropocentric communication could flow, their visual rhythms, shapes, what tones of touch they could end up as.
Sound connects with visual story of the utopia. It’s made of electronic images – as the primary communication method in this world are electronic impulses – , and we imagine that guide’s Gwushec’s imagination. Designed entities are fungi-like, gluey, dancing in big common consciousness, reminding of Stanisław Lem’s Solaris.
Their sonic explorations are made of ear-close organic textures and low sound waves designed to move thru their body. It takes clues from classical SF soundtracks, with synthesized sounds moving from clouds of ambient, thru what might be cybernetic orchestration, to meditative outbursts of intense techno with textures of birds singing or forest crackle. If anything, Gwushec’s musical identity is reminiscent, it seems to have some anamnestic memory of its past, but in it’s core it is not human, it’s ecocybernetic and maintains it’s solidarity with that.
Moonmilk is a first instance of the project. It will be primiered on Agust 11th under Xenonyms.
